Surface is responding to the growing demand for more sustainable interior materials and products by launching the innovative Eco Range. Comprising thirty collections, all demonstrate a highly responsible approach towards the environment at every stage of production, while still setting the benchmark for the trend-setting designs, colours, patterns and style for which Surface is renowned.
The Surface eco-principals are applied in 3 key stages. Firstly CONTENT: all products use materials that are recycled at some stage of the process, whether initial raw materials, post-production products or post-consumer products. Secondly, the PROCESS: Surface only works with suppliers who themselves demonstrate the highest levels of eco-responsibility and adherence to recognised global standards in materials sourcing, production, packaging and also commitment to re-generating forests and quarries from where natural materials have been sourced. COMPOSITION: Surface promotes the use of the latest slim-technology. This innovative process produces porcelain in large sheets up to 3metres long and from just 3mm thickness (compared to the average of around 10mm). The ultra-thin and lightweight nature of this material also makes it ultra eco-friendly as it uses less raw materials, less energy and CO² emissions to produce, less adhesive to fix and less packaging and transportation when compared to thicker, heavier tiles.
The commitment and focus on eco-properties has in no way diminished innovation and style when it comes to the aesthetics of Surface products. Among the new collections on offer are many that use the ground-breaking slim technology combined with the latest advances in digital printing to accurately simulate materials found in nature. i Preziosi heralds the return to a more classic and restrained style that is elegant, natural and mature. Simulated warm white marble tiles combine with porcelain simulated timber panels to create a more traditional feel that has a timeless quality. Another example is Stontech Slim which realistically echoes the delicate characteristics and subtle pigmentation of natural stone in nine colours, without any of the performance flaws inherent in the natural material.
Ecotech is a natural porcelain tile that is made from up to 70% recycled porcelain waste from the manufacturing process. Available in four organic colours and a range of sizes including a large format 600x1200mm tile and two surface finishes, this product can be used internally or externally making it perfect for connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. Evo Technical Stone, another new launch, has 95% natural stone content which is re-engineered using minimal amounts of bonding agents to produce a stunning material in a wide range of sizes including large slabs suitable for kitchen worktops, vanity units and bars. Several new eco glass mosaic collections will also be on display including Natural, a mosaic which uses the finest recycled glass to produce colours that are inspired by nature and perfect for a wide variety of internal and external applications.
