Surface introduces 'Stontech SLIM' - a ground-breaking collection of porcelain stone from Italy available in new 4mm thickness.

Available in eight natural colours from the creamiest white through to rich black with hues of greys and browns, 'Stontech SLIM' is as beautiful and versitle as natural stone tiles are but with all the performance and design advantages associated with porcelain. This range pushes the boundaries of conventional collections offering large slabs up to 120cm in length. The material is aesthetically indistinguishable from natural stone tiles which is typically twice to three times as thick. At less than half the weight the new material is easier to handle, simpler to cut, and since twice as much can be transported using the same amount of fuel, one of the greenest tiling options around. Tile-on-tile refurbishments can be completed quickly with minimal impact on existing walls and floors and weight critical environments such as apartment blocks will also benefit.

In terms of practicality, ‘Stontech SLIM’ offers the benefits of providing exact, precisely cut sizes with uniform 4mm thickness and without the large contrasting texture and shade variations often found in natural stone tiles. Additionally, the tile surface is satin smooth and as handsome as stone but crucially in terms of performance is also designed to be tough and stain resistant. 

Each tile or slab is made to a pre-defined size with each one exactly the same using a system of abrasive grinders. The precision of this processing work means the material can be laid without joints to create areas in which the edge of each tile becomes invisible.
